Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary - Gaithers

John 3:14-16 (NKJV)
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." The cross itself does not save, it is the understanding of what transpired at the cross that gives us insight into the love that Jesus Christ has for us. Moreover, it is embracing this sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on our behalf, which brings one back into a proper relationship with God. Just as God provided Abraham a lamb for his sacrifice (Genesis 22:8-14), God has given us a Lamb, being Jesus Christ, who was sacrifice for our sins. Thus, there is no longer a yearly sacrifice by law or custom for Passover; for Jesus Christ is the final sacrifice that puts to end the necessity of any further sacrifice. For there is no purer sacrifice that what was given to us in Jesus Christ; holy and acceptable unto God. His sacrifice becomes our sacrifice if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thus we are saved (Romans 10:9-13). As with Abraham, God provided the sacrifice; however, this sacrifice was not to spare a son but to give a Son for our redemption. Abraham's experience was a foreshadow of things to come.
